Chapter 55: Maiden Child (Part 1)

When the program team walked out of the rental house, they were overwhelmed by the scene outside.

They saw that the entrance of the corridor, which was not considered spacious at all, was surrounded by residents of this building. At some time, they gathered together in twos and threes. They didn’t know what to say.

Seeing the people from the program team and Mrs. Liu going out, the residents in the aisle gathered around one after another.

Host Liu: “?!!”

The gray and white hedgehog in Bai Ci’s palm was also startled by the voices and got back into the backpack.

“Aren’t you the people who filmed the show of “Spiritual Affairs”? I’m watching the live broadcast of your show. Host, you check it, it’s still on my phone!” A middle-aged man waved his phone excitedly.

Others and neighbors also took out their mobile phones and took pictures with the program crew.

A resident who knew Mrs. Liu and her daughter’s situation asked: “The people on your show can even cure terminal illnesses? Can you also look at my wife? My wife’s lungs are damaged due to heavy smoking…”

Host Liu and other staff quickly refuted the rumors:

“No, that’s not the case. We are just here to see if the little girl has any abnormal factors. If you or family members have a serious illness, you still need to consult a doctor.”

Most of the tenants in this building were family members of patients with serious diseases that were difficult to cure.

Suddenly, they heard that the program team of “Spiritual Affairs” came to see a little girl who was dying of illness, and once it was spread widely, the hearsay became that they could cure incurable diseases.

Even after hearing Host Liu’s words, no one wanted to leave. They all still gathered around the door of the room.

“My husband is also lying in the ward. Please take a look at him too!”

“Brother Bai Ci, let’s add contact information…”

After finally squeezing out of the crowd, Host Liu’s clothes were all crumpled.

Because of severe social fear, Bai Ci looked straight ahead, pursed his lips, and walked fast.

When they came to Niuniu’s ward, the little brother who was carrying the video camera turned the lens around. People could vaguely see the ward inside through the glass window on the door.

Mrs. Liu knocked on the door and yelled something in dialect. After a while, a tall and thin middle-aged man with white hair opened the door from inside.

Seeing the program crew behind his wife, the tired-looking man was taken aback: “This is…”

“It’s from the program team. Master Bai wanted to see Niuniu. How is she? Is she asleep?”

“Please come in.” Mr. He shook hands with Host Liu, turned sideways to let the video camera brother and Bai Ci in, and said:

“She can’t sleep. The nurse came over just now to change her IV fluid line. Her arm is swelling again, the nurse tried inserting the needle twice to get it done. Now, her arm still hurts… …”

Before coming here, the program team learned from Mrs. Liu that because of a series of organ failures, Niuniu had difficulty eating.

Her throat was inflamed, and she could not swallow hard and oversized food. She had been eating liquid food and soft food this month.

The reason why the filming was postponed at noon today was that Niuniu was in a critical condition because of her stomach bloating and indigestion after eating lunch.

If it hadn’t been treated in time, they were afraid this episode wouldn’t even be able to be filmed.

Host Liu asked in a low voice: “Do we need to disinfect when we go in? Can the camera go in?”

Ms. Liu: “It is possible to enter. The doctor told me about her disease. It’s because her internal organs have collapsed, and it has little to do with the external environment.”

Before that, she spent a lot of money to keep the child in a sterile ward for nearly two weeks, but her daughter’s condition did not improve. Instead, it continued to deteriorate.

Host Liu said: “Then we’ll keep our voices low.”

After the program team entered the ward, Niuniu, who was sick, also appeared on the screen of the live broadcast room.

They saw the little girl lying in the hospital bed with various tubes inserted into her body. She was tortured by the illness. She was thin and breathless. She was completely different from the smiling little sun holding a medal in the VCR.

Hearing the movement, Niuniu’s eyes were half-opened, and her voice was weak: “Mom…”

Mrs. Liu walked over and gently touched her forehead, “Does your stomach still hurt? Mom’s friend is here to see Niuniu.”

“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Niuniu was very well-behaved, but Ms. Liu’s eyes reddened.

How could it not hurt? Even the doctor said that her organs had failed to a certain extent. Even the simplest breathing, swallowing, and excretion were torture for her.

In addition, her kidney and liver were not good, and her body and face were often swollen and purple.

The doctor bluntly said that at this point, death was the best relief for Niuniu.

Niuniu was already nine years old and precocious. She knew that her illness was very serious. Her parents sold their house and quit their jobs to treat her illness. So whenever they ask her if she is in pain, she will say that it doesn’t hurt.

It was because she was so sensible that Mrs. Liu and her husband felt even more uncomfortable.

Mr. He sat on a stool, covered his eyes with his hands, and said in a low voice:

“The doctor told us to get ready and said she had 2 or 3 weeks at most…”

The pressure brought by their child’s serious illness to their family has made him breathless for the past six months.

His parents, their child’s grandparents, called him many times in private, asking him to persuade his wife not to their daughter anymore if it can’t be cured.

But every time he saw his daughter’s obedient eyes that were holding back the pain, he felt like a lump in his throat. He couldn’t say such words at all.

After calming her daughter down, Ms. Liu said kindly to Ba Ci:

“Master Bai, come and see Niuniu.”

Bai Ci nodded and walked into the hospital bed.

The first time he saw Niuniu, he felt pity. It was the first time he saw such a small child with lesions all over her body, and there was even a trace of death.

He stood beside the hospital bed and stretched out his hand, covering Niuniu’s arm: “Your body is in pain.”

Niuniu was a little nervous, but she was surprised to find that the fair-skinned and delicate brother’s palm was very warm: “Yes, a little…”

Bai Ci said: “Don’t be nervous, I want to ‘find’ the cause.”

As he spoke, he gently lifted a corner of the quilt and placed his palm above the little girl’s stomach, a little distance away from direct contact with her body.

The stomach under the palm was very thin. As if a thin layer of skin was simply covering the bones. Her ribs were clearly defined.

Seeing this, the husband and wife next to him opened their eyes wide. Mr. He asked: “What is he doing?”

Ms. Liu: “This Master Bai is a celestial being. He can invite a celestial being who is good at curing diseases. He should be doing a physical examination.”

Mr. He slightly frowned, while looking at the camera in the room and the young man standing in front of his daughter’s hospital bed, he felt absurd.

When his wife wanted to send a help letter to this metaphysics program, he dissuaded her.

The doctors said that there was no cure. So could it be that these great immortals and psychic mediums could bring Niuniu back to life by doing these tricks out of the blue?

But his wife was very determined, and he couldn’t stop her.

He felt that his wife just couldn’t accept the fact that her daughter was about to die, and she was already a little dazed.

But Mr. He didn’t say anything in front of the camera, he just sighed.

Bai Ci’s thin palm moved from Niuniu’s abdomen, then slowly moved to her chest and neck, and this cycle lasted for nearly ten minutes before he withdrew his hand.

His body swayed slightly. He stabilized himself by holding on to the cabinet next to him.

When he turned his head to face Mrs. Liu and the others again, his face was pale and bloodless, and a layer of sweat appeared on his forehead. As if all his energy was exhausted.
