Chapter 87: Buried Corpse (Part 1)

Before returning to shore, Gu Zhisang set up a temporary formation in the lake pavilion to neutralize the exquisitely designed ‘Ladder’ in the pavilion.

Not sure if it was her illusion, but Gi Liaochan felt that within a few minutes after the formation was formed, the air circulating her became much smoother, and there was no longer the chilling coldness she felt before.

She asked: “Sangsang, can this solve the problem of the leakage of resentment in the lake?”

Gu Zhisang said: “I just temporarily blocked the pavilion in the middle of the lake. The Taoist Master who set up the formation took so much trouble, which shows that there must be something in this Goddess Lake.”

“It’s not that simple to completely resolve the leakage of grievances. “

She walked towards the speedboat docked at the pavilion and said: “Let’s go back first. There is nothing to see here.”

When the two of them drove the speedboat back to the shore, the team members who were worried that something would happen to them all breathed a sigh of relief:

“What’s up, boss, what did you and Director Gu find?”

Gi Liaochan told the team members present about Gu Zhisang’s findings and speculations. They looked at each other and saw the disbelief in each other’s eyes: “Just… some ordinary flowers and grass can have such a big effect. What’s its role?”

Gu Zhisang raised her eyes and looked at the distant mountains and the calm ‘Goddess Lake’, and said:

“One flower, one world. The good Feng Shui was originally formed by these inconspicuous plants and ornaments in nature. Often, this kind of formation that is set up without the help of external objects or equipment can better reflect the skill of the person who sets up the formation. Both the person and the methods are exquisite.”

Several people agreed with their faces: “This is true. If you hadn’t seen the problem, Director Gu, we would have never known that there was such a big hidden danger here!”

“Yes, this is too embarrassing…”

Such a sinister formation was placed under the noses of people like them. They had also come to the lake to explore the lake several times, but they found nothing.

On the one hand, several team members were a little embarrassed, but on the other hand, they couldn’t help but admire Gu Zhisang’s eyesight and gathered around her to ask various metaphysical questions in a low voice.

Gi Liaochan interrupted: “Okay, okay, after the “Corpse Case” is solved, I will help you convince Director Gu to open a Q&A forum for you. Now let’s get down to business.”

“According to Sangsang’s inference, it was the ‘Ladder’ built by these plants that connected the land and the bottom of the lake, allowing the resentment of the water ghosts to overflow. According to Yao Mingfang’s recent confession, we learned that the time when she began to be pressed by the ghost and was constantly entangled started 3 months ago.”

“In other words, the time when the ‘Ladder’ appeared was most likely 3 months ago.”

Gu Zhisang nodded: “You guys are familiar here. A plant scene appeared out of thin air in the lake. Some residents must have seen it and knew about it. Can you ask about it?”

Several team members responded: “Don’t worry, Director Gu, we will figure this out within half an hour!”

After he said those words, several young men and women started looking for channels, and it didn’t take long for them to find something.

A female mystic master said:

“Director Gu, I have some contact with the salvage fleet on the lake. I just called and asked. They said that the vegetation scenery around the lake pavilion was indeed specially laid out more than 3 months ago.”

“Because there was a murder case in the Goddess Lake 3 months ago, and their fleet helped salvage it for several days, so they remember this incident very clearly!”

“According to them, the murder case was quite bizarre at the time and caused panic. The master did it in the lake to calm down the case. Afterward, he also asked people to plant various vegetation in the lake…”

This incident was quickly confirmed by another team member.

The Team Member hung up the phone and said to Gu Zhisang and Qiao Liaochan: “Boss, Director Gu, it is indeed what she said.”

He contacted the local police department and learned about the homicide that had occurred three months earlier.

According to the police station, the case has been closed, the relevant victims have been buried, and the murderer has been arrested and was about to go to court for trial.

The case began when nearby fishermen discovered something strange when they were fishing for fish and shrimp.

Most of the fish and shrimps they picked up from the “Goddess Lake” were in low spirits, and a few were half-dead, with fishy mucus on their bodies, and even more sour and weird after being cooked;

While on the boat, these fishermen can often smell the scent that is blown away by the mountain wind.

During that time, even the water in the lake had a faint fishy smell.

The fishermen thought that someone with evil intentions and revenge against society had put some poison into the lake, and they were very worried.

At this moment, the fleet responsible for salvaging sediments from the lake picked up something at the same time, which aroused the suspicion of the fishermen.

Because ‘Goddess Lake’ was the largest freshwater lake nearby, it was divided into upper and lower reaches.

At the beginning of summer, more and more people go to the lake to cool off and swim in the water. Some plastics and garbage produced on the shore will be washed to the bottom of the lake, and after degradation, they will pollute the water quality.

The salvage fleet was a group of people responsible for salvaging garbage along the lake every day.

The stuff they fished out that day had a particularly fishy smell, like the smell of rotten meat, which made the fleet members who had been dealing with garbage in the lake all year round unbearable.

Several team members on duty, wearing work clothes, rubber boots, and rubber gloves, sorted, picked up and stacked the salvaged garbage.

One of them felt disgusted again and again: “What on earth is going on here, it smells so bad?” It smells worse than rotten fish and shrimp!

While he was complaining, he touched something soft and a little hard. When he lowered his head, he saw the stench that hit the sky first and made him dizzy.

When he saw clearly what it was, he was so frightened that he screamed and threw it away: “Hu, human finger?!”

The putrid thing was a piece of finger.

White bones emerged from the fracture, and the surrounding areas were gnawed by fish and shrimps. The flesh still attached to the bones was soaked in the lake water and became soft and smelly. When the crew of the salvage team pinched it, it immediately became pulpy and deformed.

Immediately afterward, the team members found a shoe and a cloth wallet in the same batch of lake sediment.

The shoes were women’s white canvas shoes. There was a large piece of light smudged pink on the upper. It looked like……

Bloodstains faded from being soaked in lake water for too long.

At this point, the salvage team members realized the seriousness of the matter and quickly called the police.

After examination, the police confirmed that they were indeed human bones and that there were indeed blood stains on the shoes.

This shows that it was very likely that a woman was killed and thrown into the “Goddess Lake”.

From the folder of the cloth wallet, the police found a wrinkled photo and the details could not be seen clearly. After efforts to repair it, the photo showed a mother and her son.

The mother, who was probably in her 20s, looked very young, with a beautiful face and a bright smile. Her son was only five or six years old when she held him in her arms.

Through the investigation of the photos, the police finally found the identity of the woman in a village in this city.

The Team Member looked at the information they had just investigated on their mobile phones and read: “The deceased, Liu Mouxin, was 36 years old and not from this city. After getting married, she settled in Xinquan Village in this city with her husband. She had a 15-year-old son. He was in the third grade of a boarding school in this city. That photo was taken with her son when she was young.”

Through investigation, the police found that the deceased woman was quite famous in the village, but she had a bad reputation.

The boarding school where her son attends has holidays once a month, and her husband works as a construction worker on construction sites in the city all year round. He only returned to the village about once a week, and she was usually the only one at home.

She often goes to the urban night market in the afternoon and evening to run a stall, selling card-issuing bracelets to support her family.

Because the deceased had a beautiful appearance and a gentle temperament, and she often came and went alone, some people in the village saw the male merchants who also set up stalls in the night market chatting and joking with her, or helping her, and started gossiping after they returned to the village. .

They said they saw the deceased having an affair with other men and that there were people outside.

As a result, some unscrupulous scoundrels in the village often made vulgar jokes about the deceased.

According to a neighbor who lived close to the deceased, he vaguely heard some noises and arguments coming from the deceased’s home two nights ago when he got up at night.

Because the deceased’s house was the innermost house and separated from his house by a small road, the sound could not be heard clearly.

Out of curiosity, the neighbor went out and took a look, and saw the back of a panicked man running out of the yard of the deceased’s house.

He knew the figure from behind. He was a gangster from Xinquan Village who was idle and lazy every day.

  1. It’s just sad and messed up that a woman working late at night to help support her family has to endure the rumors and harassment of people from her village, and as a result, most likely ended up killed by a hooligan who tried to sexually assault her and dumped her body in the lake to remove any evidence. I hope that hooligan is captured and receives his just punishment, even if hasn’t already been punished.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
