Chapter 32: Blessing Life (Part 2)

[I was in the same class as them. An ambulance did come in and out of the school on Tuesday night, and a girl in the class was sent to the hospital.]

[The senior posts in the school forum are about to be overwhelmed by you!]

[When we heard that there was an accident with a girl in that toilet, we wondered if it was the senior from before… It turned out that it was.]

At the same time, there have been waves of heated discussions on the Internet about the behavior of the girls and what happened to the senior who died eight years ago.

Someone found an old photo of the senior.

The teenager in the photo didn’t wink or make eye-catching movements.

He was wearing a wig and a decent dress, and his shy and delicate smiling face was fixed under the camera.

For a while, the following messages were full of regret, heartache, and blessings, and those who rarely fished in troubled waters were scolded by netizens and posted in desperation.

In the lounge of the program group, Gu Zhisang said to Assistant Xiao Zhou: “I’ll sleep for a while, don’t let other people in during the period.”

Xiao Zhou said: “Okay, don’t worry, Sister Sang.”

After finishing speaking, Gu Zhisang entered the lounge, where ordinary people couldn’t see, she stepped into the ghost gate that appeared behind her.

A few seconds later, in the toilet of the teaching building of a certain university, a ghost gate connecting to the underworld also appeared.

A tall and slender woman stepped out of it.

There was dead silence in the narrow and dark space, half of the mirror on the sink was shattered, and although the broken glass on the floor had been removed, there were still faint bloodstains remaining in the crevices of the table.

After Gu Zhisang looked around, she stared at the ‘woman’ curled up in the corner.

Or to be precise, a male ghost.

It should have had a gentle and delicate appearance before it was alive, but after becoming a ghost, its soul’s face was distorted by resentment and frozen in a dying state, destroyed by highly toxic pesticides.

His eyes were red and bloodshot, his chin and chest were covered with dried blood, and his thick long hair hung over his shoulders.

Feeling the powerful force around, it became vigilant: “Who are you?”

Gu Zhisang asked: “Do you want to leave here?”

Because of this sentence, the ghost with a distorted face was stunned.

It took a while to recover, its eyes were full of struggles, but it looked at Gu Zhisang with more vigilance: “You are a Taoist Master, why are you helping ghosts?”

It wants to get out of here, it dreams of it every day.

In fact, from a very young age, he knew that his mind was more delicate and sensitive than ordinary children, and he also liked girls’ clothing more.

But his parents were very traditional patriarchs. They always wanted to have sons to carry on the family line and honor their ancestors, so he never dared to show it.

Back then, he carefully concealed his hobbies, but in the end, his photos were exposed and his privacy was leaked;

Netizens whom he had never met on the Internet insulted and humiliated him. His classmates and teachers looked at him strangely, and the school even called his parents and said that the incident had a bad impact and wanted him to drop out of school.

At the door of the teacher’s office, his parents slapped him several times, crying and saying that they were ashamed of him, and that the face of their ancestors was completely ashamed.

At that time, he felt like the world had collapsed.

So he chose to use death to end his life and escape from this terrible world.

But it was never expected that God would make such a big joke on him. After he committed suicide, he couldn’t reincarnate and became an earth-bound spirit, and could never leave this school.

After several years of torment, he gradually gave up on fleeing, and he became calm.

Then he found that after his death, the world got better.

He saw on mobile phones that some male students could wear makeup and skirts online, and there were even boys in schools who could wear long hair.

These subtle changes made him envious and also made his resentment toward this world a little lighter.

In fact, as a ghost, he naturally knows how to harm people and how to get out of the current predicament, but he was an introverted and gentle person when he was alive. He can’t do things like murder and use someone as a substitute after death.

Previously, Taoism Masters discovered his existence, coerced and lured him to become the other party’s ghost slave, so that the other party could help it escape, but he refused.

At this moment, he looked at Gu Zhisang with suspicion.

Gu Zhisang said: “I just like to meddle in other people’s affairs. Don’t worry, I don’t like your morals and deeds. There is nothing about you that I can plot against.”

The ghost: “?!!”

After she explained why she had come, the ghost knew that she had come for those girls.

After a moment of silence, he said: “I can cancel the ‘spirit’ contract.”

“Can you let me leave this place and go to reincarnation?”

“I can.”

Seeing that he had voluntarily terminated the contract, Gu Zhisang took out a stack of yellow paper from her pocket and unfolded it. This time the paper was very large, more than one meter long and wide.

“Wait a second.”

As she spoke, she took out another pair of small silver scissors and began to cut with a click.

She didn’t have glue in her hand, but as long as she pressed the edge of the paper, the yellow paper would stick together automatically.

Soon, an empty paper man less than half a meter high took shape in her hands.

The ghost didn’t know how she did it at all, the yellow paper was soft, but in her hand, it was very three-dimensional, with moderate proportions, and the body and limbs were like a miniature version of a human torso.

Gu Zhisang glanced at the ghost who was peeking at him, “Xu Yan, right?”

The ghost was shocked, “Yes…”

After confirming, Gu Zhisang used a brush dyed with cinnabar to write its name and date of birth on the body of the paper figurine, these were the information the system had captured for her from the internet.

The moment the birth date and name were printed, Xu Yan instantly felt that there seemed to be some unexplainable connection between himself and the paper figurine.

Just when he was shocked, he saw the mysterious mystic touch the head of the paper figurine with a fine brush, drawing out a pair of eyes.

It looked a bit similar to his eyebrows and eyes!

The eyes of the paper figurines were like the finishing touch.

Suddenly Xu Yan had the illusion that the paper figurine that Gu Zhisang was holding was him.

After lighting a cluster of spiritual fire, Gu Zhisang burned the paper figurine in the small toilet.

Seeing the flames slowly devouring the yellow paper, Xu Yan felt a burning sensation in his soul.

After the paper figurines were completely burned, only a pool of black ash was left on the ground.

Xu Yan raised his hand in a daze: “This, I am free?”

He felt like he was no longer bound by this land.

Gu Zhisang nodded and said: “I made a substitute for you I write your birth date and name on the paper figurine, it’s equivalent to cheating the ‘tombstone’ on your behalf. Now you are free and can go to the underworld.”

Xu Yan felt empty in his heart, and the long-awaited liberation was right in front of him, but he felt unbelievable and unreal.

He floated out of this narrow toilet, looking at the young and beautiful girls on the school road in the distance from the shadows, with a somewhat disappointed expression.

After a while, it said: “I’m going to the underworld.”

“Good.”

Gu Zhisang suddenly took out her phone, lit up the screen, and showed it in front of him, beckoning it to take a look.

Xu Yan hesitated for a moment and floated over. After seeing the content on the phone screen clearly, his expression was dazed.

He saw that there were hundreds of thousands of people in the hot search entries, who liked his photos in women’s clothing that he once felt ashamed of and considered sinful.

The most popular comment has tens of thousands of likes.

[Mori and Lvzhou: Senior Xu Yan, you are really beautiful and gentle.]

Further down, some cute and lovely netizens praise him for his beauty and tell him that his hobbies are private.

And wishes for his rainbow fart and death.

Some people searched for his roommate who peeped at his photo and posted it online. They found that the man was now working as an employee of a certain company.

Netizens spread his photos and messages around, just like he did before. People deliberately pointed their fingers at him with yin and yang words.

This roommate was still pretending to be dead, but after being scolded and collapsing, he had no choice but to come out and write a long apology letter to Xu Yan on the Internet, expressing his apology for what he had done.

However, netizens did not buy it.

His girlfriend broke up with him after learning about it, and the company also fired him due to public pressure.

The fact that he forced his classmates to death would become a label on him, and his relatives and friends pointed at him. This time, he also experienced what Xu Yan felt back then.

This may also be regarded as a kind of belated justice.

Xu Yan’s eyes were shining brightly, and he didn’t know when the ferocious hostility on his face became calmer.

He smiled at Gu Zhisang, “Thank you, master.”

After speaking, he sensed the power of reincarnation and went to the underworld.

Not long after Xu Yan’s soul disappeared in the ghost gate, a message popped up on Gu Zhisang’s cell phone.

[Xiao Zhou: Sister Sang, are you not in the room? Still not up yet? The director asked me to inform you that the second half of the show is about to start.]

  1. This chapter is kinda… off, tbh. trans girls are just girls.Kinda hard to feel the ‘progressive’ ‘we’re so accepting now’ ‘good vibes’ thing they’re trying to convey while they’re also going out of their way to say “she’s a man,” “it’s a hobby” and insist on using male pronouns? Especially the “male soul” bit was kinda… wow. that bit was no bueno. It feels like saying one thing and then doing the opposite?

Like. even if you argue that she’s not actually trans and just likes to crossdress (dubious, she picked the *women’s* bathroom to die in), even then, she’s still wearing the dress and the makeup at this moment in time. In general afaik, while someone is wearing drag the convention is to refer to the person as the gender they’re portraying themselves as, so they’re currently a she. Unless the person in question tells you otherwise of course, since you always put the actual preference of the person first if they explicitly give you their pronouns.

tldr; they’ve got the spirit, but they’re a little confused. XD

    1. you’re so right ☹️ it sucks because i appreciate the author shedding light on transphobia and how much it can affect someone, but again, this webnovel is chinese so the wishy-washy opinion was expected (i’m chinese myself btw! i know many other chinese people who would argue with me if i spoke up about transphobia because it’s “unnatural”). even though the world has progressed so much, you’re bound to encounter poc who still believe in those hurtful, outdated notions if you’re not in a westernised place
