Chapter 79: Travelled a thousand miles away to find a relative I (Part 4)

Gu Zhisang walked to the corner and knelt, looking directly into the numb woman’s eyes: “Do you want to come with me?”

She broke the shovel next to her with one foot, and the clanking sound, made the mother and son trembling and howling while cursing. They looked horrified, but the woman’s spirit gradually recovered.

The woman looked at Gu Zhisang’s hand on the chain and her eyes moved slightly.

She was so thin and her mental state was so bad that she even forgot how long she had been locked in this world like an animal. It had been so long that she had forgotten that she was still a human being.

Her lips curled slightly, indicating excitement, hesitation, and timidity.

She had run before but failed, and this had become her end.

Can she take this step forward this time? Is there hope and possibility for her life?

Just when the woman uttered a few monotonous words and wanted to speak, the man who was being helped up by the old lady stared at her with a sinister gaze:

“Yuehua, please think clearly. Our family’s affairs are so embarrassing, that the outsiders will laugh at us. The last time you were stupid, I said I forgave you, and you also promised me that there would be no next time!”

The woman named Yuehua trembled, her expression showing a bit of panic.

The man’s voice softened a little: “Our children are still so young. They still have to study. They will go to school and work in the future. How will they behave if our family’s troubles get spread? Don’t you care for your children? Would you like to consider it?”

“I know I used to be very angry. For the sake of our children, please don’t hold grudges against us…”

Xi Haihong couldn’t bear it anymore: “Shut up! You are worse than a pig or a dog. How dare you blackmail your wife!”

Daisy also became angry and took out a witch doll from her bag.

The old lady looked at the aggressive Xi Haihong, pretended to be calm, and howled: “Yuehua, no mother in the world would harm her children! Eldest Granddaughter, please persuade your mother, to say you don’t want her to leave! Second Grandson, tell your mother what you want to do when you grow up!”

When the little boy with a male duck voice was pushed by his grandmother, his legs trembled as he cried: “I, I want to go to college and go to a big city to work… Mom, Mom, don’t leave, you can’t leave us!”

The old lady glared at the girl in the back room again: “Eldest Granddaughter, please speak!”

The girl who was already thirteen or fourteen years old understood a lot of things. When she saw her mother, the haggard woman who had been tied to the corner all year round, turning her head and staring at her, she felt a mixture of emotions in her heart.

In the end, she cried out, “Mom, don’t, don’t go with them. Dad and Grandma know they were wrong, and they won’t do this to you again! My brother and I will also…”

The only light in the woman’s eyes went out, as huge pain enveloped her like a tide.

She wanted to break free from the prison of hell, and there was an opportunity within reach, but she hesitated when she was about to stretch out her hand.

The long-term torture had flattened the bloodiness and bravery in her bones, making her cowardly, numb, and resigned. Although she was disappointed in her children, they… they were innocent after all.

Especially her daughter, who often sneaks out in the middle of the night and stuffs her with snacks and a blanket.

The woman knew that once she followed Gu Zhisang, the family and even the village would be finished.

During her hesitation, she didn’t see that Gu Zhisang’s eyes were getting colder and colder, with a hint of disappointment.

“Have you thought about it? Even if these people are so arrogant, selfish, vicious, do all kinds of evil, and harm innocent people, you won’t leave? “

When she asked this question, her originally clear consciousness became a little blurry.

A shadowy voice came to her mind and asked:

‘Is it worth it? You are the proud child of heaven, a genius of metaphysics, and you will become immortal and realize the Tao in the future. Why do you care about the life and death of these mortal ants?’

‘Look at such people, cowardly, incompetent, and spineless. Even if you destroy the sky here and seemingly rescue many people, they are already such trash and have integrated into this village. They are bad people who ruin other lives and also harm their families. Not only will they not be grateful to you, but they will probably resent you for interfering in their business and interceding on behalf of their family.’

‘If you get involved in their karma, you will regret it!’

‘You are a high-altitude being. But even God never lowers his eyes, nor does he pay attention to the sufferings of the world. Don’t be pulled down and infected with the worldly doing of the world.’

‘Look at these poor children, they are the ones who need to be saved. They were not involved in these cases, but they are the relatives of the participants. If you destroy this village and send them to prison, then these innocent descendants will become relatives of criminals, and they will lose their chance to have decent jobs in the future, and an originally happy family.’

‘Do you want to interfere with the lives of so many people?’

“……”

Gu Zhisang’s eyes wandered for a moment, then quickly broke through the dusk and regained clarity.

She glanced at the black wound on her palm, clenched her fist hard, pinched away the last bit of gray mist, and sneered:

“You little rat, you’re good at hiding your head and tail!”

The ‘black mist’ actually attached itself to her wound, and took the opportunity to attack her spiritual consciousness, hoping to use these words to make her question her decision.

As long as she had the slightest doubt about her decision, this extremely weak force could seize the gap and penetrate her body.

But Gu Zhisang’s firm character was not affected at all.

Gu Zhisang never thought of saving the world, nor did she ever think about interfering in anyone’s life, nor did he want to be tainted with cause and effect and be thankless.

She just felt that people were not born to be trafficked, bullied, and forced to have their families destroyed…

Everything she was doing now was worthy of her ‘Tao’ and true intention. She was just trying to bring order out of chaos.

Everyone knew that some things were dangerous and not worth it.

But someone has to do it.

The man’s voice was still shouting in the yard, saying that this was their family matter, but He Mitu kicked him out again.

At this time, Wu Feng, who was notified by neighbors who heard the noise, rushed over with a group of aggressive village men.

He glanced around with a sneer and cruel expression:

“What do you mean by this? We, in Xiaoyan Village treat you as distinguished guests, but you want to cause trouble in the family affairs of my villagers and harm the future and lives of the people in my village!”

“In this case, don’t blame us for being rude, just stay as guests.”

Just as a group of strong men gearing up and eying eagerly were about to pounce, a whistle sounded from outside the village, resounding throughout the evening.

The villagers who looked ferocious just now were in a state of confusion: “Is it the police? They called the police!!”

“The Southern Provincial Police Department is handling the case. Put down the weapons in your hands and please cooperate with the evidence collection investigation!”

*

When the woman was unchained and helped up by the police officers who arrived, she subconsciously wanted to find Gu Zhisang’s location.

She still wanted to say thank you to Gu Zhisang, but found that she had already walked out of the house.

Gu Zhisang stood in the yard and looked up at the sky with a sense of cause and effect.

The setting sun was like fire, and its afterglow shone on her cheeks and shoulders.

When the noise faded away, Gu Zhisang opened her eyes and walked out of the courtyard.

Next, she will go to the Southern Provincial Police Station to tell the people at the police station what she knows about the clues, what she has seen from the crazy woman, and the people behind with some metaphysics to help them faster and more efficiently. Trace the origins in detail and uncover the criminal group that has been entrenched in the southern province for many years.

Until she got into the police car, Zheng Xiaona was still confused. She didn’t know how things had developed to this point. Why so many people in the two villages had been arrested? And why the Southern Provincial Police had to block the place?

As soon as she got in the car, she kept asking questions to the contestants.

Xi Haihong coughed lightly and said: “You will know when you get to the police station. We can’t explain it in a few words. In short…”

She paused, “I don’t know how to tell you!”

Zheng Xiaona: ???”

“What’s wrong? What does it have to do with me?”

Gu Zhisang opened her eyes, which were closed to meditate, and said calmly: “Mrs. Zheng, I want to tell you some news first, but it’s neither good nor bad.”

Hearing this, Zheng Xiaona had an unknown premonition in her heart.

Gu Zhisang said: “Your sister Zheng Xiaoyan has been found, but…”

“She’s crazy right now.”

Zheng Xiaona’s whole body froze as if she was struck by lightning, “W-what did you say?”

A silly, disheveled figure appeared in her mind, but she didn’t want to or didn’t dare to believe it.

Gu Zhisang: “You have just met her. She…has been in Xiaoyan Village all along. Those villagers who know about it have been deceiving you.”

Zheng Xiaona completely collapsed.

She thought about how she had come to this place time and time again over the years and took her parents to search in nearby villages.

Once or twice, when they came to Xiaoyan Village, they also saw that crazy woman from a distance.

At that time, she was not that fat and miserable. Zheng Xiaona and her parents still felt that such a demented woman would have a miserable life in the future, so they just sighed and passed by her.

Zheng Xiaona and her parents never thought that the sister and little daughter they had been looking for all their lives were right under their noses.

“No, it’s not like that… Why did those people do this to our family?!” Zheng Xiaona burst into tears and was in unbearable grief.

The police officer driving the car heard the heart-wrenching cry and roughly guessed the whole story.

They could only sigh.

Hateful human traffickers, I don’t know how many families have been destroyed!

  1. I feel sad that even the daughter chose to ask her mother to continue living worse than an animal. It would be best for her and her children to be separated because it would just be a constant reminder of their choice to abandon her for their own happiness and because she’s not fit to even take care of them. The husband and his mother should both be arrested, though, for treating her like that and because they knew she was a trafficked child sent there against her will.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
