Chapter 81: Merit Evaluation (Part 2)

It was abnormal to get involved in such things and change the fate of too many people.

King Jiang Ziwen made a big move with his hand, and a big book shining with black gold light appeared in the sky above the main hall, with the three characters’ “Book of Merits” written on it.

He said: “Little Friend Gu, now it’s time to discuss rewards for merits and punishments for crimes.”

As he finished speaking, the ‘merit book’ began to turn on its own.

“On the seventh day of September this year, the Yin Envoy ‘Gu Zhisang’ solved a major case in the world, changed the lives of tens of thousands of mortals, and helped them change their fate of dying in depression, being displaced, or being trafficked in the future.”

“These good deeds will be evaluated according to their merits and will be increased by 70 points. “

After finishing speaking, the golden light from the ‘merit book’ flew into Gu Zhisang’s body.

A small part flowed into Gu Zhisang’s body, loosening the shackles on her body, but a large part was counterattacked by the power of cause and effect in her body.

Now there was no such heavy feeling of oppression on her body.

But there were still some causes and effects that could not be offset.

Some of the ghosts watching outside shouted: “The Yin Envoy is here to eliminate harm for the people, why should she be affected because of those people?”

King Jiang Ziwen explained: “It is true that some of the descendants and relatives of those who do evil are uninformed, but their destiny will also change slightly due to your caring. These changes are cause and effect that cannot be resolved with merit.”

Although the ghosts heard and understood, they were unwilling to accept the result.

Before Gu Zhisang could say anything, many ghosts began to plead for her, hoping that King Jiang Ziwen could resolve the remaining power of cause and effect in her body.

King Jiang Ziwen frowned and shouted: “Nonsense! The ‘Book of Merits’ has its conclusions about rewards and punishments. How can it be changed at will?”

At this moment, a white light appeared in the main hall, the White Impermanence, Xie Bian, who was wearing a white robe and a white hat, appeared and raised his hand towards the slightly angry King Jiang Ziwen above.

He did not look in Gu Zhisang’s direction and said in a calm voice:

“His Royal Highness King Jiang Ziwen, please listen to me. Gu Zhisang is an envoy of the underworld and should be regarded as an official of the underworld. So when she travels and works, it can be regarded as a public official, and she accumulates virtue for the underworld.”

“If you look at it this way, it is indeed inappropriate for her to bear many of the consequences, and this is indeed a fact. I am not excusing her.”

Listening to his right-hand assistant and a group of daring ghosts below, King Jiang Ziwen relaxed his brows for a while and looked at Gu Zhisang meaningfully.

“Little Friend Gu, you seem to have some tricks up to your sleeve. When did you, and Xie Bian, start taking advantage of these loopholes in the rules? But what you said makes sense, then let Little Friend Gu lose the power of cause and effect according to the ghost difference of the envoy level…”

After he said this, the ‘merit book’ was turned over again.

After this time, Gu Zhisang’s power of cause and effect was almost offset.

Although there was still a slight impact, it was nothing compared to the preparation she had already made – spending several years cultivating!

Listening to the cheers of the ghosts outside the hall, Gu Zhisang’s emotions were very complicated.

For the first time, she felt so clearly that the kindness and love of others could be touching.

That night, Gu Zhisang dreamed of the scene in the mountains in her previous life.

At that time, her master, Taoist Jun Hong, had not yet ascended. Every day, he lamented that he had accepted a peerless disciple. He was extremely proud of it. At the same time, he was worried a lot and kept mumbling in Gu Zhisang’s ears.

Taoist Jun Hong: “My dear disciple, if you don’t cultivate your mind and cultivate your character in the world, Master is worried that after I leave, you will be easily broken, or someone will take advantage of this to attack you! You must know that the ‘innate gods’ in the immortal world were born there since childhood, and they are not tainted by the seven emotions and six desires, but in the end, they will accidentally linger in the mortal world after choosing to go to the mortal world to experience…”

“Your temperament is suitable to be an Innate God, but who can say for sure when it comes to feelings? Why don’t you go down the mountain and temper yourself first?”

At that time, Gu Zhisang did not take Taoist Jun Hong’s words to heart, and she never entered the human world.

She didn’t feel that there was anything wrong with her character, but instead, her spiritual conduct soared because she was not involved in the human world.

But now Gu Zhisang also felt that she had become more ‘human’ after staying in the human world.

There was nothing wrong with that, either.

Hot searches have been much quieter recently.

But today, because the sixth streamlined version of “Spiritual Affairs” was not released on time, it once again became a hot search topic.

In this entry, many viewers who were waiting to rewatch the edited version expressed dissatisfaction.

Soon someone familiar with the matter jumped out to explain:

[My friend is the editor of the “Spiritual Affairs” program team. Let me give you some inside information. People in Southern Province should have heard about the “big cleanup” in the province in the past 2 days, right? Many well-hidden traffickers have been arrested one after another, which can be said to be the biggest move in Southern Province in the past 2 decades. As far as I know, this matter was solved by the contestants of the program team!

Therefore, originally the editor only needed to edit the live broadcast, but now he has to insert some matters related to the case. It seems that he has to wait for official notification, so the release was delayed.]

This piece of news became a hot topic as soon as it came out.

There were many voices of shock, disbelief, and all kinds of boasting, mixed in the hot search terms.

[My gosh, is this true? Didn’t they say at the end of the live broadcast that they don’t have a way to get people back? Why did they suddenly get involved in the criminal lairs?!]

[If it’s true, then I love these contestants so much. One of my cousins was trafficked to Nan Province. Yesterday, the police informed my family that my cousin had been found. My aunt and uncle were so excited that they didn’t fall asleep all night. Anyway, Nan Province’s fight against trafficking gangs is indeed true.]

[If this is the case, will this program also have to be re-voted? This incident has benefited so many families. It is a great thing. I voted for the contestant who solved the case unconditionally. I hope the program team can release everything that happened.]

[I feel that Daisy, Xi Haihong, and Xun Yiqing are the ones who solved it. The other three contestants are not possible. Gu Zhisang was a bit lazy this time and didn’t see much useful information…]

For a while, everyone was speculating on which player provided the main clues to help solve the case.

Because Gu Zhisang’s performance was mediocre when she was first blocked by the ‘Black Mist’, many people felt that she would not be the one to solve the case.

Disputes and scoldings broke out online again.

During this period, two more hot searches came out one after another, diverting some of the traffic.

The first new hot search was about overseas:

#Boys and girls were poured into the cement bridge foundation of Xia Country#

[What kind of hot search is this? It’s so cruel!]

[It’s a ‘bridge keeper’… It was very common in ancient times. It was necessary to use children to hold the foundation of the bridge. They said that the soul of the child who was poured into it would be trapped near the bridge. In short, it is a dross and old custom. I didn’t expect it to still exist in the new century.]

[Seeing that the person who committed the crime is not from Xia Country and has been detained, I want to say that even foreigners who break the law must be treated equally!]

Just after this hot search, there was another hot search that was quite bloody and related to the relationship between men and women.

One thought on “Chapter 81: Merit Evaluation (Part 2)

  1. From King Jiang Ziwen’s explanation, I now have a better understanding of the cause and effect from Gu Zhisang’s actions and the reason why cultivators would hesitate to perform “good” acts. I feel bad for the negatively-affected future of the innocent people related to the traffickers, but it’s better than more victims accumulating and allowing those trafficked to continue their horrible fates.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
